It does NOT mean that there is improper function of the Intake VANOS Solenoid. That code does NOT mean that you are getting NO Cam Angle Signal from the Intake Cam Sensor. Your Straight-6 engine only has ONE cylinder bank and 'A' Camshaft is the Intake Camshaft. I don't have the precise Algorithms for P0012/2A82 code, but Bentley's Definition of that code is " 'A' Camshaft Position Timing Over-Retarded (Bank 1)". So please answer the following questions:ġ) What is the Make & Model of any Scan Tool available to you?Ģ) Can it display Live Data? Particularly, can it display Actual Cam Angles, both Intake (what P0012 refers to) & Exhaust Cams, as Live Data with engine running? There's MORE to Diagnostic Software than simply reading fault codes.ģ) Can it display "Freeze Frame Data", which is a "Snapshot" of system conditions at the moment a fault code was saved? You wind up spending MORE throwing parts than if you bought proper diagnostic tools. ![]() In your case, if you do NOT have the proper diagnostic tools, or know how to use them, you CANNOT do "Good Diagnostic Work". You've heard the proverb: A bad workman blames his tools.
