Don't know if when windowed it can get any bigger than this. The game runs flawlessly, altough with the high resolution things can get a little too small, but nothing that a screen magnifier can't handle.Ībout resolutions, the fullscreen only supports up to 1024x768, but if i go windowed and drag the window corners i can choose any window size, and maximize if the screen, it almost takes my full desktop screen, i think it goes to 1280x800. I bought RCT 1, I play it on a notebook with W7圆4 and a Radeon 4650 with a 1366x768 screen. If either game 1 or 2 was windowable i would buy them again in a heartbeat. apart from my favorite attractions, it just lost something i cant put my finger on. its really the only thing that stops me from playing them. i would really love to play them again, but i do not want to play them full screen, i want to play them window. ![]() i have the disc versions of all 3 games, and the first 2 i have all the expansions too. I'd like to know also if there will be consequences on the gameplay side about the fullscreen 1080p mode, or the windowed mode, on my computer. I'd like to know if there is a native support for 1080p resolution, or if there is some window mode that really works and is "ready to run" instead of trying to patch a game with a dozens of tool that may not exist anymore. I'm worried that my two way SLI of 560Ti might not be supported with such an old game. I'm running an Intel i7 3770K with 16Gigs of RAM, so it should not be a problem. The fully patched version of the game runs on all Windows systems, but traps the mouse input even after the process is closed, requiring repeated right-clicking in empty space to free the left mouse button.Since I know about RCT, I'm a pretty huge fan and I'd really like to be able to play RCT and/or RCT2 on Windows 8 (64bit). RollerCoaster Tycoon content can be imported to OpenRCT2, but the latter still requires the sequel as its base to run. The game was replaced by its 2002 sequel as the community favorite due to its expanded theming and construction controls, which in turn was replaced by the community open-source rewrite OpenRCT2. This version would be the one released on digital stores in the early 2010s. The base game and expansion would be combined in the Gold Edition (North America) / Totally RollerCoaster, with the 2003 North American variant Deluxe Edition including a unique executable version (1.20.015) with which common trainers do not work, as well as a selection of user-created ride tracks from the Ride Exchange section of the official website at the time. ![]() ![]() The latest (1.20.013) patch for Loopy Landscapes would add native Windows 2000 support, and by transition the Windows NT line of operating systems as a whole reprints of the expansion would include this patch by default. The second expansion from September 2000, Loopy Landscapes, added further new rides and scenarios, along with the option for all rides to play a selection of new music tracks by Allister Brimble or one of two custom music slots filled by the user's music files. Aside from new scenarios (one being the first real-world park replica, Alton Towers) and rides, it added gameplay changes like signs that can be used as path blockers for all non-staff and the option to give guests "real" names. The game's first expansion from November 1999 had two titles for different markets: Corkscrew Follies in North America and Added Attractions internationally. The visuals were created by Simon Foster, while the theme music was composed by Allister Brimble. The code was written by Chris Sawyer himself in assembly language with just a small portion of the code interfacing to Windows and DirectX written by Fish UK. The game started development in September 1996, running on an evolution of the Transport Tycoon Deluxe engine, under the name White Knuckle. RollerCoaster Tycoon is an isometric amusement park building game released in March 1999 by Chris Sawyer.

The genes that we share with bananas would have been present in that ancestor, and have been passed down to all animals and plants alive today. ![]() But animals and plants share a common ancestor – a single-celled life form which probably lived about 1.6 billion years ago. Even though genes only make up 2% of our DNA, it’s still surprising that half of the genes we have are also found in bananas. Thankfully, we have lots of genes dedicated to stopping these sleeping viruses from waking up, so they don’t do this.īut let’s get back to bananas. It’s like we have millions of sleeping viruses inside us! They’re called jumping genes because they can replicate and jump around, inserting themselves into random places. Because viruses are everywhere, this has happened a lot in evolution – and so about 50% of our DNA is made up of these jumping genes. When this happens in sperm cells or egg cells, the offspring will have that virus DNA integrated into its own. When a virus infects a cell, it injects its own DNA into that cell, and this DNA replicates itself as much as it can. Whereas some animals can produce their own vitamin C, we have to get it from our diet by eating fruit! There are also regions called ‘jumping genes’. For example, humans – along with many other mammals - have a dead vitamin C gene. These are regions of DNA which used to be functioning genes, but because of mutations in evolution they no longer make proteins. Some of this junk DNA is what we call ‘dead genes’. ![]() But the remaining 90% of our DNA is thought to be mostly non-functional – it’s often called ‘junk DNA’. So what’s the rest of our DNA for if only 2% makes proteins? Well, about 8% of our DNA is made up of gene regulatory regions – these act like switches to control when and where the genes are turned on and off. So sharing 50% of our genes with bananas means we only actually share 1% of our DNA with them – not 50. ![]() So what’s the difference between sharing 50% of our DNA with something, and sharing 50% of our genes with something? Well, rather surprisingly, genes – the regions of DNA that code for proteins – only make up about 2% of your DNA. We do in fact share about 50% of our genes with plants – including bananas. So where does this banana statistic come from? Is it just complete nonsense? Well, no. When you were conceived, half of your father’s DNA joined with half of your mother’s DNA to make your DNA. The only organisms you share 50% of your DNA with are your parents and your children. ![]() It’s often said that we share 50% of our DNA with bananas!īut as similar as our DNA is, it’s not that similar. And because all living things on Earth share a common ancestor, the DNA code in different organisms is much more similar than you might expect. Additionally, staff have personalities and specialisations which affect their job performance. For example, the General Practitioner skill improves a doctor's skill in the GP's Office. Staff training is more complex than in Theme Hospital all staff, not just doctors, can learn and receive qualifications that grant them new skills or improve their ability in a certain department. A room's prestige is affected by its size and ornamentation, and the higher a room's prestige level, the happier staff are inside it (if staff become unhappy, they may quit). Hospital levels are determined by the number of rooms and staff members a hospital has – increasing the level attracts more patients and skilled staff. If the player moves on, they can return to the hospital at any time. The achievement of a one-star rating allows players to progress to the next hospital, though they may continue building up their current hospital by completing additional objectives to increase the rating to two or three stars. Newly introduced elements include star ratings, hospital levels, and room prestige. Players can research new rooms and machine upgrades in the Research room. The completion of challenges and other tasks awards "Kudosh", a currency that can be used to unlock new items that can be placed within rooms and corridors. Examples of objectives include: making the hospital attractive enough, and finding cures for certain diseases, though the general goal is curing as many patients as possible. Every game year, there is an awards ceremony in which the player is given performance-based rewards. Otherwise, the player's reputation (a performance rating that affects the chances of new patients coming) is tarnished. Players are issued with a certain number of vaccines to inoculate patients, and there is a reward if all infected patients are immunised. On later levels, players can also experience epidemics, during which an infectious disease spreads throughout the hospital. From time to time, an influx of patients with a specific disease can occur. The process of diagnosing patients begins in a GP's Office before they are sent for further diagnosis in other rooms, and eventually treatment. Only janitors with the Ghost Capture skill can remove them. ![]() When patients die, they sometimes become ghosts, which disrupt the hospital by terrorising patients and staff. Two Point Hospital features unique, comical conditions such as "Light-Headedness" (having a light bulb for a head), "Pandemic" (having a pan on one's head), "Mock Star" (patients are Freddie Mercury impersonators), and "Animal Magnetism" (having animals stuck to the patient's body). The player can manage several hospitals, each with their own layout objectives. Tasks include building rooms and amenities that satisfy the needs (such as hunger and thirst) of patients and staff (such as toilets, staff rooms, reception desks, cafés, seating, and vending machines), expanding the hospital into new plots, the hiring and management of doctors, nurses, janitors, and assistants to maintain the hospital and dealing with a variety of comical illnesses. Players take on the role of a hospital administrator charged with constructing and maintaining a hospital. Two Point Hospital features a similar style of gameplay to that of Theme Hospital. At the bottom is the adviser, and the current objectives are displayed at the top-right. Visible are a GP's Office, a General Diagnosis room, a toilet, and patients queuing outside a ward. A successor titled Two Point Campus was released in 2022. The game received seven major updates as downloadable content after its release which added new regions and illnesses to cure, as well as four item packs. The game was received positively by critics, garnering acclaim for its style, humour and its faithfulness to Theme Hospital's aesthetics, but criticised for its repetitiveness and room design. Within weeks of release, Two Point Hospital was the second most downloaded game in the sales charts for Europe, Middle East, Africa, and Australia. ![]() The game was designed and developed by some of the creators of Theme Hospital, including Mark Webley and Gary Carr. Since visiting real hospitals is often unpleasant, the emphasis on humour to lighten the mood was deemed important by the developers. A spiritual successor to Bullfrog Productions' 1997 game Theme Hospital, players are tasked with constructing and operating an empire of hospitals in the fictional Two Point County, with the goal of curing patients of fictitious, comical ailments. A version for Amazon Luna was also made available in November 2020. Console versions for the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One were released in February 2020.
